The BUS is a government funded grant scheme available to homeowners and businesses who purchase a fully installed heat pump system rather than a fossil fuel boiler. Installation MUST be carried out by MCS ACCREDITED INSTALLERS; other scheme criteria set out below;
BUS Grant
- GRANT - £7,500 for ASHP & GSHP
- NO VAT to pay for installed heat pump systems including radiator / underfloor heating upgrades
- Gas and Oil installations will be phased out by 2035
- Total BUS fund :
- £450 million over 3 years
- £90,000 installations over 3 years
- £150 million per year
- 30,000 installation per year
- 400+ MCS Companies have set up accounts for the BUS with another 400+ pending
- Up to 45kw maximum output
- Must deliver 100% heating and hot water to the property as per MCS regs
- No Social Housing properties eligible for BUS Scheme
- Must replace a fossil fuel system
- EPC must not show recommendations for loft or cavity wall insulation
- ASHP BUS vouchers are valid for 3 months during which time, the installation needs to completed, commissioned and voucher redeemed. Otherwise, it will need to be re-applied for.
- GSHP BUS vouchers are valid for 6 months during which time, the installation needs to be completed, commissioned and voucher redeemed. Otherwise it will need to be re-applied for.
- Homeowners will have 14 days to confirm their application having received their emailed invitation to participate, from OFGEM.
- Installers will also have 14 days to confirm and give additional information to OFGEM if required
- Weekly payment runs following redemption of vouchers
- BUS Budget Cap of £150 million per year
- Requirements for application made by MCS Contractor – MCS No., BUS ID, Voucher ID and EPC Document.
- Eligible to Homeowners, Self-Build, Custom Build, Commercial Property Owners.
- BUS Scheme only available in England and Wales
- Installers are advised to show the £7,500 BUS voucher as a discount from the full quotation price.
